Day Workshops, access to information one day at a time! Open to everyone. All workshops include a local, whole foods lunch. For all your herbal needs, the RavenCroft Garden Herb Shop will be open the day of class.

  • Refund Policy: deposits refundable up to 2 weeks prior to event, minus $10 office fee; within 2 weeks of the event, deposits may be transferred to another course within the year.

A good design saves a thousand steps. Learn simple design techniques; stacking functions, zonation, the recycling of energy and plant guilds. Work with existing influences on your site, mineral and water cycling and your specific intentions and green dreams to create your unique garden.

Healthy plants are the natural outgrowth of healthy soil. At RavenCroft, see examples of sheet composting, worm bins, bacterial & fungal compost systems and compost teas. Use herbs to engage cosmic and earthly forces in the garden. Explore photosynthesis & propagation methods. Use natural fertilization, capture heat & light, build season extenders, greenhouses, cloches, cold-frames; see how to increase space with trellises, arbors, walls. A great opportunity to meet a wide variety of plants and learn to grow them.

Food Camp celebrates the home cook, small organic farmer, kitchen gardener, food manufacturer and restaurateur who join in a common vision and action to bring safe food, excellent flavor and restored, life generating environments to our communities.

Food Camp teaches people to capture the harvest with artisan techniques, from the world over, employing local culture, nature and tradition for preservation, increased digestibility and improved nutrient uptake. Create a foundation of health using these time-honored methods of food preparation. Keep alive artisan skills and bring delicious foods to your table!

Sauerkraut, Crock Pickles & Fermented Vegetables

Learn lactic fermentation skills for preserving vegetables, what to expect from the ferment and how to tend the crock for optimum safety. You’ll create sauerkraut, dill pickles, kimchees, herbed miso, tsukemono and gain an appreciation for worldwide fermented foods. Naturally fermented dandelion leek miso for lunch! Culture rises from the earth.
